Mr. Andrew Chew obtained his Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of South Australia, Adelaide. Before coming into the education industry, Mr. Chew had worked in numerous industries, from logistics, telecommunications, media, international banking, in roles ranging from marketing, product development and global project management. His foray into the education industry started in 2007, where he was the Regional Manager for one of the oldest and most reputable private institution of higher learning in Singapore. In this role, he travelled to many Asian countries and helped grew the international student population by a double digit percentage in a few short years. He was later head hunted by another international private institution where he was Director of Marketing and Admissions, where he opened the market for Singapore, and created a high level of mindshare for this school. In 2011, he was offered the opportunity to work in Kabul, Afghanistan for the American University of Afghanistan (AUAF), a USAID funded university with a Liberal Arts curriculum, where he served in the role of Deputy to the Provost till 2016. During his tenure, he was instrumental in helping AUAF prepare for the National Accreditation process by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), where he authored the school's several Self Evaluation Reports; that enabled AUAF to successfully navigate the accreditation process from Phase 1 to Phase 2, and allowed it to achieve national accredited status later. Aside from this, he also worked on projects relating to international accreditation with North England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and American Association of Colleges and Schools Board (AACSB), in trying to attain international accreditation for AUAF and its programs. Mr. Chew also started the inaugural issue of the Faculty Buzz newsletter in AUAF, where faculty could showcase their research works and publications to the larger academic community. He also organized the first Bush Bazaar (named after American President - George Bush) to be held on the grounds of the AUAF campus.
Ms. Shafieh Dorry
Education: MBA, Tourism Management, Assumption University BBA, International Hospitality and Tourism Management, Assumption University Shafieh Dorry has joined MDIS since 2013 on a full time basis and since then worked as a visiting lecturer at Tashkent campus. A brief career accomplishment, Shafieh has worn several hats during her non academic experiences both in multinational corporations and governmental corporation where she has handled several governmental projects in South East Asia, Middle East, South Africa and South America. Alongside she has successfully participated several training sessions, conferences and seminars such as International Tourism Conference (ITC), 99th Session of Executive Council of the World tourism Organization, Member of World Youth Alliance (WYA), The Historical Heritage of Scientists and thinkers of the Medieval East and Its role and Significance for the Modern Civilization, International Investment and Financial Forum, 3 months of intense Public Relations and Integrated Marketing Communication with Presidents Park Group, Growing in Leadership seminar at ABAC University and many more Teacher training and Child Psychology trainings.
Mr. Carlos Martínez
After he left the University of León in Spain, Carlos Martínez went to London, where he worked in several companies. His main job was the day to day running of a chain of bookshops in Central London as Managing Director. He always wanted to come back to the University and the opportunity came 12 years ago when he arrived in Uzbekistan. Before joining MDIS Tashkent, he worked for Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT) as Senior Law Lecturer, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy and the University of World Languages as a Spanish Language teacher. Carlos has conducted research regarding the Constitutional development of Uzbekistan and he has several projects in progress covering the different aspects of Islamic Law, the analysis of the Soviet Constitutions, the symbols of Picasso’s Guernica and the commercial implications of the 2007 Lisbon Treaty. Carlos holds an LLM in European Union Law and also a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning.
Mr Shavkat Mamatov
Mr Shavkat Mamatov holds a Masters Degree in Finance from Tashkent State University of Economics, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Suffolk University, USA. From 2000 to 2003 he worked as a Leading specialist in Economic Analysis Department, as a Head of the Micro-Loan Lending Unit under EBRD Credit line, Joint-Stock Commercial "Pakhta Bank" Samarkand Regional Branch. From 2003 to 2005 he worked as a Procurement expert in a "Bukhara and Samarkand Water Supply" Project Implementation Unit in Samarkand. Since 2007 he worked as a Research expert in Anti-Monopoly Policy Improvement Centre (APIC) at the State Committee on De-monopolization and Competition Development.
Ms. Inoyathon Sadikova-Head of school of Business and Management
Ms Inoyathon Sadikovaleads the School of Business and Management at MDIS-Tashkent and is a member of our faculty since 2014. She has over fifteen years of experience in management, marketing and banking. In the past, alongside with other numerous organizations and companies, she had worked for Hamkorbank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, LFS Financial Systems, Mercy Corps and Nexus Global Telecommunications. Her research interests include entrepreneurship, operations management and behavioral analysis. Ms. Sadikova holds BSc in Finance from Andijan Institute of Engineering and Economics and Masters in International Affairs in Management and Finance from Columbia University, New York.
Miss Suna Park
Miss Suna Park obtained her BA degree in International Relations (cum laude) from Richmond the American International University in London and an MSc degree in Global Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). After completing her university studies, Miss Park has established and successfully ran a full service company in London - The K’orôbe Packaging Atelier. Simultaneously, she provided independent consultancy services to a range of multinational corporations, NGO’s and international governments in the areas of political risk, business expansion and foreign investment opportunities. Miss Park closely worked with EBRD and the Islamic Development Bank in negotiating financing of strategic projects in Central Asia and the Middle East. She participated in numerous international conferences and high profile events, among them - an international conference on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict held at Said Business School, Oxford University and “Opportunities in Iran after the nuclear deal” held at the House of Commons, British Parliament. Most recently, Miss Park authored a project on sustainable waste management in Kazakhstan that became a global finalist as part of the Technovation Challenge (Silicon Valley). While she passed the management of her company to join MDIS Tashkent, she remains a sole shareholder of The K’orôbe. An avid academic and entrepreneur Miss Park joined MDIS Tashkent with a passion to share her knowledge and experience with its’ students and see them succeed in their academic and professional careers.
Nodira Rakhimkhodjaeva-Head of School of Banking and Finance
Nodira Rakhimkhodjaeva is a Senior lecturer. In April 2017 she was appointed as a Head of Banking and Finance school. Course Director UOW, UOB She works as a full time lecturer at MDIS Tashkent. Until recently, she was also a Course director of Bangor University programs run at MDIST. Mrs Rakhimkhodjaeva Nodira holds a Master of International Economic Relations degree from Tashkent State University of Economics, Uzbekistan. She is also alumni of the Junior Faculty Development Program (USA). She started her working career as a lecturer at the Joint Faculty of Business Management opened with the support of the Malaysian government at Tashkent State Technical University in 1999. During her years at the faculty she began as an assistant and held positions as the Head of Finance Department and the Dean of the Faculty of Business Management.
Bakhtier Tukhtaev- Head of School of Tourism and Hospitality
Bakhtier Tukhtaev holds a MA Marketing Communication (distinction) from University of Westminster (2009), Masters in Finance, Banking and Securities from University of Santiago de Compostela (2008) and BA Business Administration from Westminster International University in Tashkent (2005). His professional experience started at Westminster International University in Tashkent in 2005 as an assistant to marketing department. Within 2 years he was promoted to the position of leading marketing specialist. He decided to continue his education and went to study Finance to Spain and then did his Masters in Marketing in the UK. Upon his arrival he was offered a teaching position at Westminster International University in Tashkent, however, after one semester, he decided to work in business and persuade other non-academic career. He worked as a marketing director in AbnmbGroup, a holding company of chain of famous coffee houses in Tashkent Bon!, several restaurants and retail shops. He continued his professional career in East Telecom a joint venture of UzTelecom and Korea Telecom. He started as a brand manager and within short period of time was promoted to the position of marketing director of three major brands in Uzbekistan (TPS - Internet provider, ET- Telecom integrator and EVO - Wimax Internet provider). In order to gain international experience, he accepted the offer by Clarion (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. Representative office in Tashkent. He worked as a Business development manager and was responsible for Central Asia and Caucasus. He worked shortly in other businesses, such as a Retail chain of Makro&Sunday, lamiranda confectionery shops and other consultancy works. Bakhtier Tukhtaev joined Management Development Institute of Singapore in Tashkent in 2011 as a part time lecturer in Marketing and Tourism. He taught several subjects in those fields. Since 2015 he is a full time academic member of the faculty. In 2016 he as appointed as a Head of School for Tourism and Hospitality. He has ambitions plans to turn the School into a prospering and popular direction in the University. Mr. Tukhtaev is working in several research projects, particularly on Tourism and Marketing. His interests in research are digital marketing, consumer behaviour, marketing communication, branding and food &beverage. Currently, Mr. Tukhtaev is conducting a research paper on the Psychological aspects of Menu Pricing and Impacts of Social media Activities on Company Bottom Line.
Mr. Markos Komninakis was born in Athens, Greece, lived and studied in the United States for several years. His scientific background includes studies in Hospitality & Tourism, Business & Personnel Management, Interpersonal Communication & Consulting, Economics; he held managerial and training positions in a number of international organizations in US, Europ, Middle East and Central Asia. In Education, he served as Director of Studies, Head of Department, Senior Lecturer and Instructor. He holds a long and successful academic career designing and teaching courses in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Public Relations, Communication, Tourism& Hospitality. He is a graduate of City University of New York/College of Staten Island (B.Sc . in Personnel Management & Economics), Ohio University (M.A. n Interpersonal Communication & Consulting), the Higher Technical School of Tourism of Salonica Greece (Hotel Management). His teaching experience includes academic institutions such as Ohio University, College Arts & Sciences, University of Athens, SouthEastern College of Athens, City Unity College in Athens, Open University Greece, Cihan University in Iraq, Lebanese French University in Iraq and others; since September 2017 he is a Lecturer of Tourism & Hospitality at MDIS Tashkent. He holds the Proficiency of English from the University of Michigan and he is an accredited instructor of the English Language by the Ministry of Education in Greece. Markos is a Certified Trainer by the International Board of Certified Trainers (IBCT) and accredited Instructor by the EI of the American Hotel & Motel Association. Since 2009 he served as the senior Academic Adviser of the largest Iraqi university in Northern Iraq and for the last three years he served as the Director of GROWCONSULT LTD an international consulting and training organization in the hospitality industry registered in UK; he has trained personnel in more than 50 organizations in various sectors, state and private. Markos as the Training Director of ITG Greece, supervised the design of the training courses for the Volunteers of the Athens2004 Olympic Games in Athens Greece. Markos is an author having published 7 books in the fields of Tourism, Communication, Training, Hotel Management, Public Relations; he joined MDIS Tashkent in September 2017.
