THE STATE VISIT OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN SHAVKAT MIRZIYOYEV TO SINGAPORE .

On January 17, 2023, within the framework of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Singapore, negotiations with the President of Singapore Halimah Yacob and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong were held.

The Uzbek-Singapore summit was preceded by an official welcoming ceremony held in the Istana Palace where a new variety of orchids (a national symbol of Singapore) was named in honor of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan as a sign of high respect and honor to the distinguished guest of the country. By tradition, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev personally placed a sign with the name of a new type of orchids – “Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s Orchid”, near the flower.

During the meeting, the Presidents exchanged their views on the prospects for further deepening relations between Uzbekistan and Singapore, cooperation in the field of reforms for the further democratization of social and political life.

Active cooperation in the educational sphere and a high level of mutual understanding and mutual support on international platforms were noted with satisfaction.

As a result of the meeting, the key five areas for interaction were identified, including: the development of human capital and the training of highly qualified personnel for public administration; involvement of the Singaporean side in the privatization processes in Uzbekistan; the attraction of advanced “green” technologies, digital solutions and opportunities for introducing Singapore’s achievements in the field of digitalization; the improvement of urban infrastructure and communications, along with urban planning and construction, landscaping and public utilities; investments support and mutual trade expansion by promoting joint projects with leading Singaporean companies.

In the afternoon, His Excellency visited the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy and held a meeting with the heads of leading Singaporean companies.
